Preparing Yourself For A Long Hospital Stay

Welcome to my site about tactics you can use to cope with hospitalization. I am Edward Collins. I created this site after a long hospitalization left me feeling uncomfortable and dying to go home. I was ill-prepared for the lengthy stay at that facility. Despite my nurses and doctors’ best efforts, I felt lonely, bored and somewhat isolated during my stay. On this site, I will help you prepare for hospitalization well before you need your next medical procedure. Please come by my site daily to learn the information you need to know. Thank you for visiting my website about preparing for hospitalization.

4 Tests a General Practitioner Can Do

Health & Medical Blog

Staying in good health and feeling your best each day is sure to be high on your priority list. In order to accomplish this, you may want to have specific tests completed that will assist you in avoiding disease and staying healthy at the same time. Knowing the tests your general practitioner can do for you may be the motivation you need to schedule an appointment.

Test #1:  Blood tests

One of the best ways to test your overall health and to find any issues early is with blood tests. There are a variety of these that can be done, and some are listed below:

1. Complete blood count (CBC)—The test is effective in measuring the levels of blood cells in your body. This test is ideal for detecting some illnesses at the earlier stages so you can get them treated.

2. Hemoglobin A1C—This will test your glucose levels and can assist in determining if you have diabetes.

Test #2: Pap smear test

Most general practitioners will perform a Pap test for female patients. This test is important in detecting cervical cancer in its earliest stages and should be regularly completed.

Studies indicate this important test should begin by age 21 and continue up to age 65 for most women. However, if you've a history of cervical cancer, you may need to continue testing past 65.

Test #3: High blood pressure test

Keeping your blood pressure in the ideal range of 120/80 can help ensure you don't get heart disease. It's important to visit your medical provider to have your blood pressure tested to make certain you don't have hypertension.

If you do suffer from hypertension, your doctor can recommend some blood pressure medications for you to take each day to obtain a normal reading.

Test #4: Pregnancy test

You may want to confirm you're pregnant after taking an at-home pregnancy test. Your regular medical provider can do this for you and give you the peace of mind in knowing if you are or aren't pregnant. This test usually involves providing a sample of your urine.

The benefits of having different testing done at various stages of life will allow you to know the current condition of your health and work to avoid disease. Be sure to rely on a general practitioner from an establishment like Sound Family Health to assist you in reaching your health and wellness goals by doing the proper testing for you.
