Welcome to my site about tactics you can use to cope with hospitalization. I am Edward Collins. I created this site after a long hospitalization left me feeling uncomfortable and dying to go home. I was ill-prepared for the lengthy stay at that facility. Despite my nurses and doctors’ best efforts, I felt lonely, bored and somewhat isolated during my stay. On this site, I will help you prepare for hospitalization well before you need your next medical procedure. Please come by my site daily to learn the information you need to know. 3 Tips To Make Your Liquid Medication Taste Better

Health & Medical Blog

Many people prefer liquid medication because they have trouble swallowing pills; in fact, some people go to compounding pharmacies to have their necessary medications made in a liquid form for just this reason. Some medicines are also more effective in the liquid form, such as cough medication. Even though liquid medication can have its benefits, the taste can be pretty unappealing. Fortunately, there are three tried-and-true ways that you can make your medication taste better.

1. Ask to Have Flavoring Added

If you have never asked your pharmacist to add a tasty flavoring to your liquid medication, you should do so. A lot of pharmacies will add cherry or other fruity flavorings to medicine if you ask, and many of them don't charge a dime for the service. You can also purchase liquid flavor that is designed just for this use at many pharmacies, or you can order it online.

2. Coat Your Mouth With Something Sweet

Another option is to coat the inside of your mouth with something sweet before you take your medication. The old saying that a spoon full of sugar helps your medicine go down more easily comes to mind here. However, instead of eating an actual spoon full of granulated sugar, consider coating your spoon with honey, molasses or chocolate syrup. After eating it, the taste of the medicine probably won't be as strong or unpleasant.

3. Add It To Your Food

One option is to add your medication to your food. If you add a spoon full of liquid medication to soup, stew, ice cream or another favorite food, there's a good chance that you won't even taste it. The important thing to remember here, however, is that you must eat all of your food for it to work. Otherwise, there is a chance that you won't get your full dosage of medication. Also, consider stirring your food regularly as you are eating it to help distribute the medication as well as possible so that the taste won't be overly concentrated.

Liquid medication isn't known for tasting good, but it's a necessity for many. This doesn't mean that you should have to be miserable every time that you take your medicine, however. If you try each of these three methods, you are sure to find an easy want to take your necessary liquid medications without dealing with the unpleasant taste that can often go along with it.
