Preparing Yourself For A Long Hospital Stay

Welcome to my site about tactics you can use to cope with hospitalization. I am Edward Collins. I created this site after a long hospitalization left me feeling uncomfortable and dying to go home. I was ill-prepared for the lengthy stay at that facility. Despite my nurses and doctors’ best efforts, I felt lonely, bored and somewhat isolated during my stay. On this site, I will help you prepare for hospitalization well before you need your next medical procedure. Please come by my site daily to learn the information you need to know. Thank you for visiting my website about preparing for hospitalization.

3 Things That May Be Causing Your Back To Ache That You Don't Realize

Health & Medical Blog

If you have back pain on a constant basis, you may be causing it yourself without even knowing it. The first thing you should do is to see your doctor, and then make some changes in your life to stop the pain from coming back again.

Your Weight

If you are overweight, you are more likely to have back pain. If you currently eat a lot of junk food, drink a lot of sodas, and other foods high in fat, make changes to your diet to help you lose weight. Eat fresh vegetables and fruit and drink more water. Visit with your doctor to help you get on the right track. He or she may also recommend you see a dietician to help you come up with a good meal plan.

You should also exercise, but be careful, because if not done correctly, you could hurt your back even further. For example, you may use your back muscles on some exercises and not even realize it. Visit a gym and let the instructors there teach you how to properly exercise. They can also show you the best exercises to do to strengthen up your back muscles.

Smoking

Smoking is bad for your lungs, your heart, etc., but it is also bad for your back. Every time you smoke, you deprive the cells in your body of much needed oxygen, including the muscles in your back. Quit smoking or at least cut down. If you need help quitting, see your doctor for medication or other tips to help you quit. It will be one of the best decisions you ever make in your life.

Your Mattress

If you wake up every morning with a stiff back, your mattress is likely causing the stiffness. If you have an old mattress, you should purchase a new one that will give you support. Choose one with medium firmness. When you visit a mattress store, lie down on the mattresses to see how they feel before you buy one.

If your mattress is not very old, turn it over. Over time, weight can be distributed unequally on the mattress, making it uneven. Turn the mattress over every six months to always keep it even.

Back pain can disrupt your life, and sometimes it can be so bad that it will put you down completely. To stop this from happening, follow the tips above to keep your back fit and happy. For more information, talk to a professional like Allegheny Brain And Spine Surgeons.
